Those protests have begun to spread to other cities such as Boston, Chicago and Atlanta and continue to make plans to spread further. Last night at abotu 2 am EST, Hip Hop Emcee and activist Immortal Technique entered the Occupy Wall Street territory. He spoke to members of the protest about the need for change, the barriers to organization, true democracy and independence. Immortal Technique has long been active in speaking out on sociopolitical issues through his music and actions. In 2008 he took part in helping to fund and build an orphanage in Afghanistan. Occupy Wall Street protestor Joshua Paul snapped these photos before being arrested with several others, totaling about 100 arrested that day, during the September 24th event in NYC. Joshua spent 12 hours incarcerated for his participation in a peaceful protest. After being released he returned to the event. Dozens of people have been arrested in New York after police shut down a protest against Wall Street financial firms. The organiser of the demonstration, a group calling itself “Occupy Wall Street”, used social media to call for peaceful protests against what they describe as corporate greed in America.
