TV’s Judge Mathis Weighs in on the execution of Troy Davis
The world watched as the United States of America, land of the free, home of the brave, murdered a man against the very principles it tries to spread militarily to other nations. The amount of doubt in the Troy Davis case was more than enough to warrant a stay of execution and grant a new trial.
“Georgia has blood on its hands”
“Dating back to his time in the Illinois State Senate, President Obama has worked to ensure accuracy and fairness in the criminal justice system – especially in capital punishment cases,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. “However, it is not appropriate for the President of the United States to weigh in on specific cases like this one, which is a state prosecution.”
They aren’t the only ones.
